Andreas Metzger is senior academic councilor at the University of Duisburg-Essen and head of Adaptive Systems and Big Data Applications at paluno, the Ruhr Institute for Software Technology. His research interests include the data-driven adaptation of software systems and business processes. He received his Diploma and his Ph.D. in computer science from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in 1998 and 2004, respectively. He is deputy general secretary of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and steering committee vice chair of the European Technology Platform NESSI (The Networked European Software and Services Initiative). Among other leadership roles in EU projects, he was technical coordinator of the Big Data Value PPP lighthouse project TransformingTransport.
